I think you’ve confused a couple of things here. He means the directory in your hosting control panel (you do have a file manager in your hosting account, don’t you?) where wordpress is installed. It’s likely to be your web root. Then you go to wp-content/themes/theme-name and do the rest of the stuff he shows. That part doesn’t pertain to WP’s dashboard, it’s the web host control panel.

Ukless you are using wordpress dott com, you should have these options. Look closer. It’s a basic install.

I didn’t quite catch how does an empty “placeholder” page cascade to a blog? Does it just skip over to index.php (unless page.php is present) to render it? If so, how does it know it should pull all of the posts? Shouldn’t it give me a “nothing found” page?

    Thanks for the video.

I’m just learning about WordPress, which why watching this video. As others… I was wondering about the directory too. I finally found it under the files “File Manager” on cpanel of my hosting site(Justhost). It isn’t any extra cost.

I think the point of this video is that you can use something like Dreamweaver or whatever you want to make your own code to make custom templates for a customized WordPress website, then simple to FTP upload to be included in the file templates. Cool.

for example Hostgator web hosting have a utility at the cpanel which installs WordPress with 2 or 3 clicks. I love WordPress, you can make wonders with that.

A little tip to save some money: in case you decide to order Hostgator webhosting, coupon code HGGREEN2011 gets you $9.95 discount from the first bill. I am on HG over a year with 10 websites and so far happy.

This just makes me really mad that you didn’t explain a thing about how to get the HTML code from the Publisher or Front Page document. That is just so assumptive, and I hope you write back to me. I spent this entire night trying to figure it out from Publisher Help.

  25. lucieanne12 says:

Not a great tutorial. How do you get the HTML code from Publisher? You lost me in the beginning.
