@sarahlouconnolly set the timing to the 5-4=Hi RPM setting. This motor definitely turns more than 20k.

hi instructions ive found on the net aint very good and the only thing it says about the timing is changing 5-1 = 2 to 4 pole motors
5-2 = 6 to 8 pole motors
5-3 = 10 to 14 pole outrunner
5-4 = Hi RPM outrunner (I think >20k)
i havent got a clue what poles are. im new to all this so its all sounding odd to me.,
can i ask what rpm yours is revving to and that way i can find out about mine because maybe my watt meter is crap. was bought frokm china for $25 delivered ye see

@MrRCking84 you will need to refer to the instructions manual for your radio as each radio works a little differently. If you cant get it to work you can also try using elevon Y mixer cords. You can usually get these at the local hobby shop or look them up online.

@sarahlouconnolly Check the timing on your esc. I had mine set to the highest setting 30 degrees. It could also be your batteries if they have a low c rating. The ones I use are rated at 40c. Also check to make sure you have good solder conections. The Graupner prop may be a bit more efficient too, but I would think the extra pitch would even things out.

hi there after seeing your video i went ahead and bought the exact same setup, but instead i got the zippy 2650mah lipo thats all. and my prop is a 7×7 graupner speed prop because thats the closest i could find..
the thing is, yours comes out at 1600watts, i bought a watt meter and mine is only 1250 watts? any ideas? thanks

@rcFoamFighters Hi, really nice vids, But How do you mix the Elevons.. I have FS CT6B 6Ch Radio which requires a Computer to program it.. i cant get elevon mixing…

@rcFoamFighters I have an ultra :P

@calebsmedia no need to reverse the motor shaft. The motor is a dirrect bolt on replacement. You will need to cut the enter and exit holes into the rear of the fuselage to run the motor wires out side the fuselage as shown in the video to avoid them from rubbing on the motor can.

Thanks so much! You are very helpful! I promise this will be the last question I have for you and I won’t bother you no more. Will I need to reverse the shaft/motor like you did in one of your other videos?

@calebsmedia I didn’t paint my FunJet,, I used colored packing tape from tape brothers on line store. The prop is an APC 7×6 sport prop for fuel motors. We never use pusher props on our planes. You can easily reverse the rotation of a brushless motor by switching two of the three motor wires around so there is really no need to use pusher props. Just make sure the side of the prop with the numbers is facing forward and the prop is rotating so it is pushing the plane.

@calebsmedia if you watch the our “1600watt FunJet shoots for 140mph at Hermann Airport” video you will see the watt meter test at the end show a reading of 92a @1597watts. And to answer your next question, yes this motor can take it!! Just be sure to do a cool down lap after each short full thottle pass.

One last question i thought of…the specs from hobbyking says max current 50A so why the 90-100 A ESC? Could you get by with an 80A or so?

Thanks for the info! I have two more dumb questions…how did you paint your funjet,, what type of paint did you use?
And on the prop for the funjet is it the regular 7×6 prop or the pusher 7×6 prop? I heard there is a difference. Thanks!

@Renatobrasilful this is the normal version of the FunJet.

@calebsmedia The FunJet comes with a great set of build instructions. If you set the rates and cg per the instructions you will have no problems flying at 140mph. Afterwards you can crank the rates up if it is to docile for you. As for servos I recommend at least 12g metal gear ones if you’re going to fly this fast. I got some Corona 939mg servos from HobbyKing to put in mine. They are noisy but work great. You could also use the HobbyKing brand HK 939mg if you want quieter ones.

Funjet ultra or normal?

Hello! First off love watching your videos!
I am looking into buying a funjet and setting it up like yours. I had a few questions about your setup though.
Would there be anything you would change about your setup now?
What size and type servos did you use with how much torque?
Where is the CG on your setup?
And did you have Dual Rates setup and if so how much through did you setup on your 140 mph passes?
Sorry for so many questions I just want to make sure everything is right before I purchase

@pencon61 not sure if they are the same, but you should try the highest timing setting first to see if it works.

@rcFoamFighters Would the timing settings be the sme on a turnigy esc as a Phoenix 125a ? I wonder if newer firmware would have the higher setting?
rcFoamFighters says:

@pencon61 30 degrees works great for this motor! If you cant go up to 30 set it as high as you can go.

It doesn’t seem to be revving out like it should so if anyone can give me the right Catle settings in general it would be much appreciated .I’m using a 5S 3300mah and at full throttle there’s some surging going on

I going to be running this motor in my Stryker and I was wondering , on a Phoenix 125A what should the timing be? I have it set at 15 because the Castle software only goes to 20 . I heard some guys are running the 3648 at 30 .. any advice?

@rcFoamFighters If your concerned and want to hand launch do like your doing a fast pitch with a baseball throw it at 30 degrees up nice and round and curve your arm down in aloop shape. your hand will be clear.

@bobmaxiao I’ve never had an issue with this. I just hold the plane near the cg and walk the throttle up till it feels like it wants to fly out of my hand then give it a firm toss. If you are concerened with this then I would suggest using a bungee launcher.
